Drury’s first president, Dr. Nathan Morrison, makes the creation of a library for Drury College a priority. He solicits book donations from publishers, and builds a collection of about 1,000 volumes. The books are kept in a closet of the College’s first building. Professor George Herod Ashley is named as Drury College’s first librarian.
